Get to know me - 50 times

My good friend Joanna challenged me to this...so here's 50 things about me (I decided to follow her lead and not do the 100 things, ugh, too daunting).

1. I like being a curly haired, redhead. It's different and I have never had to dye, bleach, color or perm my hair
2. Like Joanna, I am left-handed. Unlike Joanna, I do everything with my left hand.
3. I love lipstick...I just finished a Mary Kay colors make-over and realized I love wearing lipstick.
4. I also love wearing nail polish - though I can't wear it very much - my hands are in water way too much for them to stay looking appropriate. Such is the life of a stay at home mom.
5. I am a Dansko clog girl - they are so comfortable and versatile.
6. I look good in orange and I like the color too.
7. My favorite artists are my friend Chellie, Van Gogh and Monet.
8. I had my gallbladder removed (after pregnancy, which apparently is very common)
9. I love to cook and am addicted to the Food Network cooking shows.
10. My favorite food is ice cream. I wish it was part of the food pyramid.
11. I love to garden but my back doesn't allow me to do much of it.
12. My favorite flower is the tulip, in any color, but white is my favorite.
13. I think that having fresh flowers in my house is an inexpensive way to make me feel good!
14. I love Honda vehicles . I always wanted the old style Prelude.
15. I love to bowl. I received the "most improved score" trophy in a junior high bowling league one year.
16. I loved to roller skate in junior high.
17. I used to bury dead animals that I found around our yard when I was little. I had a grave yard behind the garage with little stick crosses for headstones. I did not discriminate either. There were mice, snakes, birds, no bugs though...I wasn't hip on bugs. Especially the walking stick, those scared the crap out of me! We used to get them crawling all over our garage...ICK!
18. I love animals. I would say that dogs are my favorite with horses coming in a close 2nd.
19. My best friend in late grade school and early junior high was our horse Syrina Bay.
20. As I write these statements, I am watching a rerun of the last episode of M*A*S*H* and crying my eyes out - gosh darn it!
21. I loved watching Gilligan's Island when I was young.
22. I worked at Steak N Shake for a while during college. My favorite moment was when a bottle of ketchup blew up on me and all over the walls and ceiling.
23. I was so disappointed when Arrested Development (TV show) was canceled. It was one of the most clever shows on TV. Plus, I always had a secret crush on Jason Bateman. Remember Silver Spoons? He was Ricky's annoying friend.
24.I never could water ski. I always fell forward on my face. I was so jealous of my sisters and mom and dad who could.
25. I have test anxiety, or else maybe I would take the GRE and go to grad school. Who am I kidding, I don't enjoy school.
26.My favorite place on earth is Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland.
27. I have been to 19 different countries - all before I was 21 years old.
28. The summer after high school, I was a camp counselor. The toughest week was for the junior highers. Man, those girls were mean!
29. I used to "worm the hook" for my middle sister when we were young, she couldn't stand to watch the poor little things wriggle. Now, I couldn't do it if you paid me! (poor things)
30. When I first moved to town, I got a TV stolen out of the back seat of my car. Unfortunately for them, it was broken!
31. Growing up, I was scared to death of bees. I remember getting stung in my belly button once, no wonder.
32. When I was in grade school, I fried some baby mice in a box in the garage. I thought they would get too cold so I covered the box with a bunch of rags.
33. My sisters and I used to put our miniature daschund dog, Tiny, in a baby stroller, high chair and cradle (and the clothes hamper). The heck with dolls. She was such a good dog.
34. When my husband is away for a night, I break out The English Patient movie. I find it very romantic, although extremely sad. And watching it alone always makes me cry...I really don't know why I do that to myself.
35. I enjoy watching movies over and over and over and over...then, I like to quote them, over and over and over again.
36. One of the coolest experiences in my life was seeing Pearl Jam in concert at Soldier Field. The warm summer air was blowing in from the lake and they played for over 3 hrs - non-stop, using the Grateful Dead's stage from the night before. It was awesome!
37. My wardrobe used to consist of very large earrings, lots of rayon, skirts with large printed shirts...and too much pink and lavender!
38. I remember seeing one of the Star Trek movies (#4, I think) in a London theater. It was pretty cool at the age of 13.
39. I bought my first and only jean jacket at a store called Boogies in London.
40. My nickname used to be Little Donut. Someone once told me that's what my name meant in Spanish (I think they were stretching it a bit).
41. I think my record for seeing the same movie in a theater was 5 times - Rocky IV, with my middle sis. That was before movies cost an arm and a leg.
42. I wish I had the courage to pierce my nose. I think it looks cool.
43. I once saw a deer running down the middle of our street, in the middle of the day.
44. I love coffee brewed in a french press. Thanks to my friend Lisa who turned me on to the stuff.
45. In my dreams, I am a photographer for Time/Life magazine.
46. I had a horse step on my foot once and sprained my toes.
47. I collect old bottles.
48. I refuse to take a pill or drugs to lose weight.
49. I used to drink a lot of Pepsi (in college) - now, I don't know when I have last touched the stuff! I hardly ever drink pop anymore.
50. I used to own a pink boom box.

I love these lists! Perhaps one day I'll do one, but honestly I don't think I could think up even 50 things.
FYI, my record for seeing the same movie in the theater is also 5, but now I can't remember if it was Raiders of the Lost Ark or The Empire Strikes Back. I know I was obsessed with both movies. It was definitely Harrison Ford, and I was in 8th grade.

That was a fun little trip down memory lane, Neat!

The mice...oh, the poor babies!
Your need to bury all things dead...I can't believe you used to touch those things! Eeewww!
The walking sticks WERE creepy, weren't they? I hated them, too!
Tiny was the best dog in the world for all we put her through.
Bean was...well...heaven on earth. I still miss her terribly.
I didn't remember that you loved bowling! LOL Was that at Wagners?
Your wardrobe was a hoot! (Don't forget the *short* hair!)
Rocky IV holds some of the best memories of my life...you were my best friend during that year. Good times...

Love you!
Dee

Very cool! A pink boombox - and to think that Sarah will probably not know what one is, or a cassette either. I shudder to think what I'd come up with if I did "the list". Maybe someday...
